A 27-year-old trader, Chidi Ibiam, has been sentenced to 21 years imprisonment by a Lagos State High Court in Ikeja for defiling a six-year-old girl.In her ruling, Justice Sedoten Ogunsanya, said having examined all relevant facts of the case, as placed before her, she is no doubt convinced beyond reasonable doubt that the defendant is guilty of the charge against him and as such sentenced to 21 years behind bars.
While the trial lasted, the state counsel, Mr Adebayo Haroun, told the court that Ibiam, who sells foodstuff and resides at the Baruwa area of Ipaja, Lagos, was caught while committing the said offence on December 15, 2012.
