Alhaji Ibrahim Lemi, 68, was on Saturday night assassinated by unknown gunmen in his home, in Aliero, Kebbi State PM News reports.
According to the resident security guard at the home of the deceased, Habibu Shehu, six masked men pinned him (securityman) to the ground and gained access into the house at about 8:30 pm.
He said that the criminals who came in batches, rode on motorcycles.
He stated that after over-powering him, they killed their victim and fled.
A close associate of the deceased, Alhaji Buhari Mohammed, the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly,described the incident as a set-back to business activities in Aliero.
Speaking on the incident, the Spokesman of the state police command, Mr Nafiu Abubakar, said no arrests had been made yet.
He said the command had commenced thorough investigations and had intensified efforts at trailing the killers.
Meanwhile, sympathizers had continued to throng the home of the deceased, to condole his family.
The late Alhaji Ibrahim Lemi, 68, who is survived by three wives and 22 children, has since been buried according to Islamic injunctions.
